Jaime’s Story

When I started Harmony Garden Music Therapy Services nearly 20 years ago, I never imagined where the journey would lead. By 2019, our team was thriving - contracts growing, five music therapists on staff, and my dream of a sustainable practice with an amazing team of women coming to life. I was loving it.

And then the world shut down. Overnight, I pivoted everything online, laid off most of my staff, and worked in an eerily quiet office while trying to keep our community connected through telehealth and virtual music classes. We made it through, but inside, I was unraveling. My nervous system was fried, my voice was faltering, and I no longer recognized myself.

So, I turned back to music - this time for me. Through music therapy, sound healing, meditation, and a women’s community that changed my life, I began reconnecting with my inner voice and rebuilding not just my business, but myself. I learned to step back, trust my team, and follow the nudges toward what felt aligned and true.

Now, I see my story more clearly: I am more than Harmony Garden, and Harmony Garden is more than me. I celebrate 20 years of building a thriving practice while also stepping into new roles - business coach, consultant, sound healer, performer, and music therapist. And I know I’m not alone. So many women wake up one day and realize they’ve lost themselves in being “mom,” “wife,” or “business owner.” I’ve been there, and I’m finding my way through.

This is the work I’m most proud of: not just building a career, but building myself.

Professional Bio

Hi, I’m Jaime Lawrence, MT-BC - a mom/wife, a lifelong musician, board-certified music therapist (MT-BC), performer, and intuitive business coach. For nearly two decades, I’ve been rooted in Jackson, Michigan, where I founded Harmony Garden Music Therapy Services to bring music into the lives of children, families, and community members of all ages.

My love for music began in childhood, singing in my church choir and playing flute - an instrument I’ve now held close for over 30 years. That early joy grew into a career in music therapy after earning my degree from Michigan State University, and it continues to guide how I connect with people today.

Beyond music therapy, I’ve expanded my work to include sound healing (personal and corporate wellness programs), music therapy consultation services in schools, and intuitive business coaching for fellow music therapists and creatives. I believe music is more than art - it’s an avenue for connection, self-discovery, and community transformation.

You might find me leading an intergenerational singalong, holding space in a sound bath, collaborating with other creatives through Center Stage Jackson, or performing with the Harmony Gardeners ensemble. I’m also deeply involved in my local community as a member of Jackson BPW and a Lean Rocket Lab LOCAL Fellow, where I partner with other entrepreneurs to reimagine what thriving communities can look like.

At the heart of everything I do is one simple belief: music has the power to heal and connect us. Whether you’re here to explore coaching, experience sound healing, consult about music therapy, or hire me as a performer, welcome - I’m glad you’re here.
